Job summary

Goken seeks an experienced engineering professional to support testing and development activities for brake control systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Specialties in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Manufacturing preferred.
• Braking systems expertise with ownership of development or validation for hydraulic braking.
• Root cause analysis across hardware, software and firmware boundaries.
• Extensive experience with HIL test benches for automated firmware regression testing.
• Strong understanding of the automotive product development lifecycle including software release and change management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Experience writing test scripts in Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or CAPL for HIL validation.
• Familiarity with CAN/CAN-FD and ISO 26262/ASIL-D concepts.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical specifications for brake controls, authoring and maintaining specs with external suppliers and internal teams.
• Lead suppliers in brake control development to meet performance targets and ensure timely FW releases.
• Advance diagnostic tooling by designing robust scripts and tools for system troubleshooting and validation.
• Lead firmware validation with suppliers, designing and executing regression plans to meet milestones.
• Own defect resolution by triaging and assessing impact across hardware and software.
• Collaborate with AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision, and Robotics teams to integrate innovations into the vehicle platform.

Summary

This role will support engineering test and development activities.

Responsibilities

• Drive Technical Specifications: Author, refine, and maintain comprehensive technical specifications for brake controls, collaborating closely with external suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
• Supplier Management: Lead suppliers in the development of brake control functions to meet prescribed performance targets and ensuring delivery of FW releases in time for company milestones.
• Advance Diagnostic Tooling: Design and develop robust diagnostic scripts and tools to streamline system troubleshooting and validation.
• Lead Firmware Validation: Partner with suppliers to design, adapt, and execute rigorous test plans and firmware regression suites, ensuring all deadlines and project milestones are met.
• Own Defect Resolution: Lead the triage, resolution, and impact assessment of supplier firmware defects by leveraging insights from architecture and system design teams.
• Collaborate Across Domains: Partner with multidisciplinary experts in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision, and Robotics to integrate cutting-edge innovations into the core vehicle platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6+ years relevant industry experiences.
• Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
• Braking Systems Expertise: Direct ownership of functional development, tuning, or validation for hydraulic braking systems (e.g., ABS, ESC, TCS, e-Brake) at an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
• Root Cause Analysis: Proven track record of debugging complex, ambiguous, and multi‑faced issues spanning the hardware-software-firmware boundary.
• HIL Validation: Extensive experience developing, configuring, and operating Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches to execute automated firmware regression testing.
• Lifecycle Knowledge: Strong understanding of the automotive product development lifecycle, including software release processes, change management, and long‑term schedule planning.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS office
• Advanced, hands‑on experience with industry‑standard tools: Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, dSPACE (ControlDesk/ConfigurationDesk), Polarion, Jira, and Confluence.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN‑FD) and functional safety standards (ISO 26262, ASIL‑D).
• Experience writing test scripts using Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or CAPL to automate HIL validation suites.

The pay range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base pay only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.

California Pay Range: $70 USD - $78 USD
