Job summary

Teleflex is seeking a highly capable Technical Support/Test Engineer in the Vascular & Emergency Medicine business to develop product and material testing per ASTM and ISO guidelines, with mentoring on digital tools, software, and compliance.

You will coordinate with engineering and project teams, perform or oversee test setup, validate data, and drive continuous improvement through method development, documentation, and change control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline.
• 3+ proven experience working in a technical/laboratory setting.
• 3+ years of engineering experience.
• Force testing experience (e.g., Instron or equivalent).
• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
• Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data with basic statistics.
• Technical writing skills for test reports and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Communicate test flows and technical details between engineering and technicians.
• Train technicians and provide technical oversight for testing.
• Perform or oversee test equipment setup, operation, and calibration.

Position Summary

With minimal supervision, this role develops product and material testing in accordance with established ASTM and ISO guidelines, as well as internal quality procedures. The position involves providing training and mentorship in digital tools, software, and compliance practices, while coordinating closely with engineering and project teams. Additionally, it actively contributes to technical investigations, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Support

• 1. Communicate test flows and technical details between engineering and technicians.
• 2. Train technicians and provide technical oversight for the execution of physical, thermal, and chemical tests on raw materials and finished products.
• 3. Perform or oversee test equipment setup, operation, and maintenance, ensuring all instrumentation remains calibrated, functional, and compliant with regulatory and internal requirements.

Test Execution

• 4. Execute testing and operate equipment to support testing activities, as needed, to maintain aggressive timelines.
• 5. Ensure data integrity and adherence to good documentation practices (GDP).
• 6. Supervise test execution to ensure technical rigor of test methods and adherence to established protocols/verification plans.

Test Development

• 7. Identify and implement improvements in laboratory processes, workflows, and compliance practices to drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
• 8. Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of laboratory digital and compliance systems, including third‑party test/inspection software (ex. Bluehill, ImageJ) and internally developed test software using LabVIEW, Python, etc.
• 9. Independently execute test method development, including technical investigations, root-cause analyses, tooling coordination, and documentation preparation associated with routine product testing, non-conformances, and corrective and preventive actions.
• 10. Plan and execute test method validations, working intimately with Design Assurance to develop robust validation protocols and improve existing procedures.

Record Keeping

• 11. Support change control processes related to laboratory protocols, equipment calibration schedules, maintenance logs, and procedural documentation.
• 12. Assist with review of incoming laboratory requests for completeness and compliance, assigning priority and resource allocation based on project timelines and laboratory capacity.
• 13. Review and approve completed laboratory test documentation, ensuring accurate, complete, and compliant reporting in line with internal guidelines.

General

• 14. Engage with project teams to efficiently plan test operations, including supporting design of experiments (DoE) and test planning activities.
• 15. Adhere to and ensure compliance with Teleflex’s Code of Conduct, all company policies, rules, procedures, and established housekeeping standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline
• 3+ proven experience working in a technical/laboratory setting
• 3+ years of engineering experience

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

Required:

• Force testing experience (e.g., Instron or equivalent mechanical test systems)
• Programming experience in at least one of the following: Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW
• Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data, including practical application of statistical techniques
• Statistical competency, including data visualization and basic modeling
• Technical writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise test reports and documentation

Digital & Software Proficiency

• Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) or equivalent productivity tools
• Proficient in document formatting, table creation, and template usage in Word
• Proficient in data manipulation, graphing, and calculations in Excel
• Ability to navigate file systems, manage large data sets, and share information digitally

Collaboration & Communication

• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to translate technical findings to diverse audiences (engineering, project management, technicians)
• Ability to supervise studies, identify technician needs, and address technical concerns.

Preferred:

• Six Sigma training (Green Belt or higher beneficial)
• Understanding of Design Control processes (ISO 13485/21 CFR 820 environment)
• SolidWorks experience (basic modeling, fixture understanding, or drawing interpretation)
• Experience with equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Experience with change management systems (e.g., Agile PLM, Windchill, or similar)
• Experience with fluid based systems and transducers (e.g. pressure, flow)
