Job summary

Boyd Thermal by Eaton in Billerica, MA is seeking a Test Engineer – Systems to support our liquid-to-liquid cooling systems and chiller products on the manufacturing floor. You will troubleshoot electrical and controls issues, develop test fixtures, ATPs, and automate test data capture to improve yield and reliability.

The ideal candidate has a BS in electromechanical or electrical engineering with 7–10 years of hands-on experience in electrical design, instrumentation, and PLC/PID control

Qualifications

• BS in electro-mechanical or electrical engineering with 7–10 years of hands-on electrical design and troubleshooting experience.
• Instrumentation and test setup experience required.
• Proficiency in programming/scripting and familiarity with testing frameworks/tools.
• Experience with Visual Basic software and PLC/PID control programming desirable.
• Microsoft Office skills (Word/Excel/Project) desired.

Responsibilities

• Daily Systems production support and troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor.
• Develop mechanical/electro-mechanical test fixtures and ATPs.
• Design and build automated/semi-automated test equipment for acceptance testing.
• Develop, implement, and maintain automated test data capture for defect tracking and yield reporting.
• Support qualification and reliability testing, including test design and instrumentation selection.
• Assist in creating training aids for production (wiring, crimping, testing setups).

Job DescriptionTest Engineer – SystemsBoyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a test engineer at our Billerica, MA facility to support our product line of liquid-to-liquid, ambient cooling systems and compressor-based chiller products primarily used in data center, semi-conductor and medical equipment markets. This individual must be a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional communication skills and a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDaily Systems production support, troubleshooting of electrical and controls problems on the manufacturing floor.Development of mechanical and electro-mechanical test fixtures for testing production systems and electrical boxes.Develop acceptance test procedures (ATP) based on product testing requirements (QTP).Design, develop, and build automated / semi-automated test and processing equipment to enable safe, reliable, and cost-effective completion of acceptance test procedures.Develop, implement, and maintain program for automated test data capture for defect tracking and yield reporting.Provide support for qualification and reliability tests including test design, instrumentation selection, test setup and performing tests as required.Assist in development of training aids for production (wiring, crimping, software, test setup, etc.).Minimum Requirements:Ideal candidate will have a BS in electro-mechanical or electrical engineering and 7-10 years of hands-on experience in electrical design and troubleshooting. Knowledge of electrical safety codes and standards is required.Prior experience with instrumentation and test setup is required.Proficiency in programming/scripting and familiarity with testing frameworks and tools is highly preferred. In-depth experience with Visual Basic software, programming PLCs and PID temperature controllers is desired.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) are desirable.
