Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer to design, develop, and implement cost-effective testing methods and equipment for UAV systems and PCBA sub-systems.

You will contribute to production testing and work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. The role requires 2–5 years of test-solution development, proficiency in C# and Visual Studio, and LabVIEW experience, plus strong defect analysis and test-planning capabilities.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years' experience in development of test solutions to support testing in a production environment, including on-going support.
  • Experience in writing Test Plans based on functional requirements and technical specifications.
  • Experience writing bug reports and performing root-cause analyses.
  • Experience in Object Oriented Programming (C# programming using Visual Studio IDE a plus).
  • Ability to generate estimates based on different levels of specifications at different life cycle stages of a project.
  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines including mechanical & electrical design, material properties, and test instrumentation.
  • Strong testing knowledge & ability to use the latest testing technology and standards.
  • Knowledge of various testing methodologies at all stages of product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to select and integrate test instrumentation, to interpret component data sheets, board schematics, and wiring diagrams and to design test interface circuits and controls.
  • Proficient in planning, writing, and executing test specifications.

  • Able to lift up to 10 lbs. and carry objects of varying sizes and shapes (Occasional).
Training Travel Requirement

This role requires weekly travel from Salt Lake City, UT to Simi Valley, CA for training for the first three months of employment. Training occurs Monday through Friday, three weeks per month. Travel, lodging, meals, and ground transportation will be provided. After the training period, the position is based in Salt Lake City, UT.
