Job summary

A leading technology company in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking an entry-level Test Engineer to perform DC and RF tests on semiconductor laser chips. The role includes building optical setups, analyzing test results, and supervising testing lab operations. Candidates should have a Master's or PhD in electrical engineering or physics, hands-on optical testing experience, and strong coding skills. Job description

Hisense Photonics is looking for a test engineer to perform DC and RF tests on DFB laser and EML chips made in house.

Responsibilities

• Build optical setup and perform LIV, spectrum, far field, S21, eye diagram tests on bar, single chip and packaged COC.
• Perform tests to measure material or chip parameters, including laser gain profile, grating kappa, junction temperature, etc.
• Program code to automate test data processing.
• Analyze test results, correlate chip test results with module test to develop proper specs for chip test.
• Write testing documents, train testing technicians and supervise daily operation in testing lab.

Requirements

• Master or PHD (preferred) in electrical engineering, or physics.
• Hands‑on experience on optical testing setup. Strong coding skills in python, SQL or labview.
• Comprehensive understanding in optical process in semiconductor laser. Familiar with various testing methods and related theory.
• Has experience to define and prepare work instructions.
• Good at communication. Has experience in mentoring junior engineers and training technicians.
