Job description

At PMAT, we work on mission critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.

In this role, you’ll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.

About the role: PMAT is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineer to support planning, execution, direction, and reporting for experimental, developmental, and operational testing of advanced Navy capabilities. This role contributes to test activities conducted across Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), operational shipboard, and virtual environments, as applicable. The candidate will work with cross-functional technical and operational teams to help evaluate system performance, document results, identify issues, and support successful delivery of capabilities to fleet and mission stakeholders. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate test objectives, technical findings, and operational impacts across engineering, program leadership, and executive audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Support test planning, coordination, execution, and reporting for experimental, developmental, and operational test events across hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), operational, and virtual environments.
  • Assist in the development of test objectives, procedures, schedules, data collection plans, and reporting documentation to ensure test activities are organized, traceable, and aligned to program goals.
  • Support test direction activities by coordinating with technical teams, operational stakeholders, and program leadership during test execution to ensure issues, risks, and results are properly captured.
  • Document test results, observations, anomalies, and lessons learned by preparing clear written reports and briefing materials for technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams of engineers, developers, operators, and program personnel to support integrated testing of emerging capabilities across relevant environments.
  • Support testing activities involving cloud platforms, containerized technologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines, as applicable to program objectives.
  • Assist with issue tracking and follow-up actions by helping identify test gaps, documenting risks, coordinating resolution efforts, and supporting continuous improvement across test events.
  • Communicate technical and operational test information clearly across multiple audiences to ensure stakeholders understand test status, findings, impacts, and recommended next steps.

About Us: PMAT is an innovative small business founded with a passion for developing forward-leaning solutions from exceptional people that increase the mission's capability. We focus on designing and building impactful digital solutions that utilize modern cloud, data, and software concepts. Our passion is working on complex and progressive challenges such as edge platform computing, containerizing legacy platforms, distributed data platforms, or heterogeneous data analysis.

We recruit, retain, and foster a team motivated to pursue passions, investigate new ways of doing things, and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe in being curious about every element of a problem and experiment relentlessly. We foster continuous learning in an environment that encourages positive collaboration and expands our capabilities. We tap into collective intelligence, acknowledging that the most brilliant people may not be in the room. Above all else, we believe that delivering and demonstrating is more potent than a sheet of paper. We are passionate about mission-centric design and delivering effective capabilities to and for the warfighter.

Whether you’re an experienced engineer or just beginning your career, you’ll work alongside experts who are committed to solving mission-critical problems.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerization technologies, DevOps practices, and/or CI/CD pipelines.
