Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Principal NPI Test Engineer in San Diego to act as the technical authority for mixed-signal test development from silicon validation to high-volume production. You will architect comprehensive test solutions, drive DFT standards, and lead multi-disciplinary projects enabling 200Gbps-class products.

The role requires hands-on lab work, mentorship of junior engineers, and strong vendor relationships with OSATs and customers.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple NPI projects from start to finish
• Train and guide junior engineers
• Develop/debug ATE test programs on Advantest V93000 (93K)
• Support test development on Teradyne uFlex for analog/sensing products
• Review test hardware designs (load boards, probe interfaces)
• Perform hands-on lab work: bring-up, silicon debug, and production release
• Partner with design teams on DFT and testability requirements
• Support characterization, correlation, and test readiness reviews
• Transfer solutions to OSAT/manufacturing sites and drive yield improvements

Role Type: Permanent

Pay Rate: $200k - $225k base + bonuses, RSUs and benefits

Required Skills and Experience:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of progressive experience in semiconductor test engineering
• 7+ years specifically in mixed-signal test development
• Proven track record leading NPI programs for high-speed communication ICs
• Expert-level proficiency with Advantest V93000 OR Teradyne UltraFlex
• Advanced programming skills in C/C++, Python, and TCL
• Deep understanding of high-speed signal integrity, jitter analysis, and BER testing
• Expertise in analog/mixed-signal DFT techniques (BIST, scan, boundary scan)
• Strong foundation in statistical process control and quality methodologies
• Experience with PCB design tools (Cadence, Altium) and signal integrity simulation
• Strong presentation skills to executive leadership and customers
• Experience building and maintaining strategic vendor relationships

Nice to Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in relevant engineering discipline
• 15+ years in semiconductor test with focus on SerDes/high-speed I/O
• Experience with SiGe BiCMOS process technology and its test challenges
• Knowledge of automotive quality standards (AEC-Q100) and qualification flows
• Familiarity with 93000 PS1600/PS3600 digital channels and Wave Scale RF
• Experience with wafer-level testing and probe card design
• Experience with test data analytics and machine learning applications
