Job summary

QED Systems, LLC seeks a Test Engineer to join the APG, MD team. You will plan, execute, and report functional, regression, and integration tests for complex software, ensuring DoD compliance.

You will develop test strategies, support automated scripts, and coordinate test activities across engineering and program management to deliver quality software on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Detail‑oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience planning and conducting test and evaluation of DoDI 5000.87 software acquisition path for software intensive systems.
  • Testing methodologies: experience designing, writing, and executing manual and automated test cases.
  • Automating and scripting: familiarity with test frameworks (Selenium, Junit, TestNG) and scripting languages (Python, Java, Bash).
  • DevSecOps and Agile: experience working in CI/CD pipelines and Agile environments.
  • Defect tracking: proficiency with JIRA or HP ALM.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $155,000.00 Annually

QED Systems, LLC, is currently recruiting a Test Engineer to join our team at APG, MD to support our customer, Project Manager Intelligence Systems & Analytics (PM IS&A). This role focuses on technical, functional, integration, and regression testing to ensure mission‑critical Army systems meet defined requirements and quality standards. The tester collaborates with the product team, stakeholders, and vendors to identify defects, provide evidence to support requirement functionality, and contribute to both manual and automated testing processes. They assist with test environment setup, data preparation, and reporting on test results to support informed release decisions.

Duties:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute functional, regression, integration, and system testing of complex software systems, using industry best practices and established program test and evaluation strategy.
  • Develop and maintain test and evaluation strategies, test plans, procedures, schedules, and supporting documentation for acquisition programs.
  • Support the planning, execution, and reporting of developmental and operational test events throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Plan and coordinate cyber survivability testing in accordance with Department of War policies, processes, and procedures, with emphasis on integrating cyber survivability test activities into the program’s Agile process.
  • Coordinate test activities across engineering, program management, and other technical stakeholders to ensure test objectives and requirements are met.
  • Document test results, analyze findings, identify deficiencies, and prepare formal test reports and briefings for program leadership. Develop, write, and maintain test cases, test scripts, and traceability matrices aligned with requirements.
  • Identify, log, and track defects using tools such as Jira or similar issue‑tracking platforms.
  • Support development of automated test scripts using frameworks like Selenium or similar tools.
  • Participate in test environment setup, test data preparation, and configuration management.
  • Assist with performance and basic security testing to validate system resilience and non‑functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers to improve code testability and resolve defects efficiently.
  • Produce test reports and metrics that communicate quality status and risk to stakeholders.
  • Ensure test activities comply with applicable DoD testing policies, procedures, standards, and acquisition requirements.
Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience planning and conducting test and evaluation of DoDI 5000.87 Operation of the Software Acquisition Pathway for software intensive systems.

  • Automating and Scripting: Familiarity with test frameworks (such as Selenium, Junit, or TestNG) and scripting languages (like Python, Java, or Bash).
  • DevSecOps and Agile: Experience working inside continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Agile development environments.
  • Defect Tracking: Proficiency with standard tracking and project tools like JIRA or HP ALM.
Required Clearance:
  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree may be systems, computer science, computer engineering, electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of direct experience in testing complex computer systems, mechanical, electrical/electronic and software systems required.
Travel:

Less than 20% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands of this position include ability to:

  • Be independently mobile.
  • Communicate effectively with co‑workers and customers.
  • Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer use.
  • Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as glasses/goggles (eyes), ear plugs/muffs (hearing), hard hats, and breathing respirators/masks.
  • Operate powered vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.
  • Lift/push/pull objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Withstand exposure to noise from operating equipment.
