Job summary

Right Ascension LLC in Van Nuys, CA is seeking a Test Engineer to program, operate, and maintain test equipment used in acceptance and development testing of critical flight hardware components. The role requires hands-on experience with complex systems and the ability to integrate software, electrical, and fluid systems.

You will support dynamic schedules, emphasize safety and quality, and work with both test and production teams to validate equipment and processes in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with high pressure pneumatic or hydraulic fluid systems.
• Ability to integrate software, electrical and mechanical systems for test environments.

Job description

US CITIZENSHIP OR LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS IS REQUIRED.

The Test Engineer is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining specialized test equipment used for product acceptance, qualification, and development testing of critical flight hardware components. The Test Engineer is also directly involved with activating new test systems and proving out new software updates.

This is a dynamic position that requires the flexibility to adapt quickly between different roles and requires a diverse skill set with significant emphasis on prior hands-on experience working with complex systems. The Test Engineer must be capable of integrating control software, electrical systems, and fluid system hardware to conduct complex test requests. The candidate should be accustomed to setting and maintaining challenging schedules while keeping safety and quality at the forefront of every activity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Automation of production testing for aerospace components


• Test plan and procedure generation


• Data review & troubleshooting of test articles and test equipment


• Test Setup P&IDs


• Component assembly


• Assembly & test plan reviews


• Data reviews

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience


• Team oriented and trustworthy, a history of demonstrating good character and strong values


• Experience working with high pressure pneumatic or hydraulic fluid system hardware


• Experience designing and building complex systems such as a vehicle or propulsion system or as a test engineer in support of aviation, aerospace, or other rigorous hardware development programs:


• Level I: 0-2 years industry experience


• Level II: 2-4 years industry experience


• Level III: 4-6 years industry experience


• Level IV: 6-8 years industry experience


• Level V: 8+ years of industry experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be open to work variable schedules including overtime and occasionally weekends as needed


• Must be open to travel to customer and vendor locations on occasion


• Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted


• Submit at least two (2) professional references available for brief phone interview

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with aviation or aerospace testing requirements


• Well versed in FOD control and cleanliness requirements for aerospace fluid systems


• Candidate is comfortable assembling mechanical and electrical hardware


• High degree of comfort with the integration of software, electrical, and mechanical systems


• Test Data analysis


• Some working knowledge of LabVIEW for Data Acquisition, Control, and Automation


• Some working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS 3D modelling, analysis, and drawing environments


• Advanced PC proficiency and strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite


• Willing to work in a small company environment with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy


• High energy self motivated performer, willing to work in a fast-paced environment and wear multiple hats

COMPENSATION

Full Benefits package, including 401k with 100% match, medical plan, dental, vision, company holidays, vacation pay, sick pay, employee stock plan. Base salary by level:

• Level I: $70-85k/Yr


• Level II: $85-95k/Yr


• Level III: $95-105k/Yr


• Level IV: $105-120k/Yr


• Level V: $120k+/Yr
