Job summary

Chart Industries in Canton, GA is seeking a Test Engineer to provide engineering and testing support for LNG and Hydrogen products worldwide. You will instrument products, analyze data, and develop test fixtures while ensuring safety and ISO/IATF compliance.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering, 2+ years’ experience, and familiarity with data acquisition, DOE/DVP&R, and CAD tools. This role involves factory, lab, and customer-site work as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or science field.
  • 2+ years of related experience in test engineering or lab work.
  • Experience with experiment methodology and lab procedures.
  • Self-starter with a customer service and team player mentality.
  • Basic understanding of heat transfer, vacuum insulation and fluid flow.
  • Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids and compressed gas properties.
  • Basic knowledge of DC circuits.
  • Experience developing a DVP&R.
  • Familiar with ASTM and ANSI standards.
  • Strong data management, processing and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Experience with data processing software such as imc FAMOS 6.3 or similar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exposure to JDE or similar is a plus.
  • Exposure to SolidWorks, AutoCAD/Inventor or similar is a plus.
  • OEM heavy truck, automotive, or diesel engine experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and testing support for LNG and Hydrogen products.
  • Review product specifications and research test methods.
  • Instrument products to capture real-world service conditions.
  • Compile, analyze, and reduce data to key events.
  • Fabricate test fixtures and prepare simulation bench tests.
  • Schedule and manage test programs.
  • Document methods and results in technical reports.
  • Suggest and procure tools for testing and ensure safety.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Travel to customer facilities during testing phases.
  • Propose design changes based on test data results.

What Will You Do?

The Test Engineer provides a variety of engineering and testing support activities for LNG and Hydrogen products manufactured globally by Chart.

  • Review product specifications and research test methods.
  • Instrument products to acquire real world service conditions.
  • Compile, analyze, and reduce data to critical events.
  • Fabricate test fixtures and prepare simulation bench tests.
  • Schedule and project manage test programs.
  • Document methods & results in technical reports.
  • Suggest and procure necessary tools for testing.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  • Ensure continuous compliance to ISO9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Develop test protocol with minimum information.
  • Identify testing and validation requirements.
  • Travel to different customer facilities during the testing phase of a project.
  • Propose design changes based on test data results.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, sitting and walking.
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  • Frequent computer work.
  • Hands on to include working on different types of trucks.
Work Environment
  • Production factory support, external testing environment and office environment.
  • Work related travel will be required.
  • Possible travel to customer sites to gather data or work on various projects.
Work Hazards
  • Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
  • Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).
Your Experience Should Be…
