Job summary

Chart, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer to support LNG and Hydrogen product testing globally. You will review specs, instrument hardware, collect data, and develop test protocols to validate performance.

The role requires 2+ years in engineering testing, familiarity with cryogenic liquids, data acquisition, and industry standards. Travel to customer sites and collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or Science required
• 2+ years of related experience in test engineering or similar roles
• Experience with experiment methodology and lab procedures
• Self-starter with customer service and teamwork mindset
• Basic understanding of heat transfer, vacuum insulation and fluid flow
• Familiar with cryogenic liquids and their properties
• Strong data management and analytical skills
• Experience with Data Acquisition Systems
• Experience with data processing software (e.g., imc FAMOS 6.3)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Exposure to SolidWorks or CAD tools is a plus
• Experience with heavy trucks, automotive, or diesel engines is a plus

Job description

What Will You Do?

The Test Engineer provides a variety of engineering and testing support activities for LNG and Hydrogen products manufactured globally by Chart.

• Review product specifications and research test methods.
• Instrument products to acquire real world service conditions.
• Compile, analyze, and reduce data to critical events.
• Fabricate test fixtures and prepare simulation bench tests.
• Schedule and project manage test programs.
• Document methods & results in technical reports.
• Suggest and procure necessary tools for testing.
• Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
• Ensure continuous compliance to ISO9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Develop test protocol with minimum information.
• Identify testing and validation requirements.
• Travel to different customer facilities during the testing phase of a project.
• Propose design changes based on test data results.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent standing, sitting and walking,
• Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
• Hands on to include working on different types of trucks

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Production factory support, external testing environment and office environment.
• Work related travel will be required.
• Possible travel to customer sites to gather data or work on various projects
• Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
• Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).

Your Experience Should Be…

• BS degree, Engineering or Science
• 2+ years of related experience
• Experience with experiment methodology and lab procedures
• Self-starter with a customer service and team player mentality
• Basic understanding of heat transfer, vacuum insulation and fluid flow
• Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gas and their properties
• Basic knowledge of DC circuits
• Experience in the development of a DVP&R
• Familiar with ASTM and ANSI standards.
• Strong data management, processing and analytical skills
• Knowledge and experience utilizing Data Acquisition Systems
• Experience with data processing software, such as imc FAMOS 6.3 or similar
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Exposure to JDE or similar, a plus
• Exposure to SolidWorks, AutoCAD/Inventor or similar, a plus
• OEM heavy truck, automotive, and/or diesel engine experience (fuel delivery and electrical), a plus
