Job summary

FTS, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer to ensure quality across internal applications, APIs, and data pipelines. The role involves both manual and automated testing of web interfaces, REST services, microservices, data flows, and databases.

Responsibilities include creating and executing test plans, developing automated scripts for UI and API layers, and validating data in Azure SQL and Cosmos DB. You will track defects and collaborate with engineering teams to reproduce and resolve issues.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software quality assurance and testing experience across the SDLC.
• Hands-on automation scripting using Selenium or similar tools.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs and validating data across stores.
• Strong test design skills including edge and negative scenarios.
• Familiarity with Jira or Azure DevOps for defect tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct functional, system, integration, and regression testing based on specifications.
• Build and maintain automated test scripts across UI, API/REST, and service layers and run them in CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform API testing of RESTful services, including validation of status codes and authentication.
• Manage test data with mocks and virtualization to ensure repeatable tests.
• Validate data across relational and NoSQL stores including Azure SQL and Cosmos DB.
• Test and report on data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Log, track, and manage defects through resolution using established tracking systems.
• Communicate issues clearly to technical teams with reproducible steps and details.

Job description

The Test Engineer will be responsible for testing internal applications and web-based interfaces, including tools that enable users to independently initiate and manage transactions. This role will focus on ensuring application quality through manual and automated testing across user interfaces, APIs, REST services, microservices, data pipelines, and databases.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, execute, and maintain test cases and contribute to test plans for applications and their underlying REST services and microservices.
• Conduct functional, system, integration, and regression testing based on business and technical specifications.
• Build and maintain automated test scripts across UI, API/REST, and service layers, and execute them within CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform API testing of RESTful services, including request/response and schema validation, status codes, and authentication.
• Use service virtualization and mocks to test components in isolation and manage test data by creating, modifying, and resetting data to ensure tests are atomic and repeatable.
• Validate data across relational and NoSQL data stores, including Azure SQL and Cosmos DB.
• Test and report on ETL pipelines and data processing workflows.
• Log, track, and manage defects through resolution using established tracking systems.
• Communicate issues clearly to technical teams and stakeholders, including steps to reproduce and supporting details.

Experience & Technical Skills Required

• 5 years of software quality assurance and testing experience with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience writing automation scripts using Selenium or similar automation tools.
• Proficiency in testing and reporting on ETL pipelines.
• Strong test design skills, including creating and executing test cases and contributing to test plans with edge and negative test scenarios.
• Working knowledge of functional, system, integration, regression, and REST/API testing.
• Hands-on knowledge of databases and SQL, including validating data across relational and NoSQL data stores such as Azure SQL and Cosmos DB.
• Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps/ALM, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Postman, Playwright, or similar.
