Qualifications

  • Student working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • GPA 3.0 or above.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous internship or work experience.
  • Experience with Creo Parametric, Pro-E or CATIA is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model and test new mechanical systems for JLG.
  • Research and implement CIRs to support manufacturing, supply chain, and operations.
  • Prepare/revise vehicle component layouts using CAD (Creo/Pro/E/CATIA).
  • Update bill of materials and ECNs in the PLM system.
  • Support prototype, pilot, or production builds and provide technical assistance.

In this role you will work on a variety of key projects and initiatives ranging from simple tasks to more complex analytical projects.**YOUR IMPACT*** Design, model and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a JLG’s.* Research and execute on continuous improvement request (CIR’s) to support manufacturing, supply chain, and customer feedback/operations.* Work with global engineering resources to prepare/revise/review vehicle component layouts using CAD (i.e. Creo Parametric)* Create and manage ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.* Update bill of materials in the PDM (Product Data Management) system to reflect product changes.* Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.* Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.* Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.* Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*** Student working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering field.* Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.**STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS*** Good oral and written communication skills.* Previous internship experience or work-related experience.* Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.* Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements (SAE teams, etc..)* Experience using Creo Parametric, Pro-E, CATIA or a similar CAD system is a plus.* Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles* Knowledge of construction industry and equipment used.* Strong mechanical aptitude**WORKING CONDITIONS***The following represents general working conditions for this role.
