From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are looking for a Test Development Engineer to design and implement test infrastructure for mechanical systems in support of satellite hardware development. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging opportunity to work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product’s performance, quality, and reliability.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, develop, and implement test equipment and infrastructure used in satellite flight hardware development and qualification.
  • Author, refine and implement validation, verification, acceptance and qualification test procedures.
  • Develop test, data acquisition, and control automation.
  • Participate in design reviews, and risk assessments, to contribute to the continuous improvement of satellite hardware performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, systems, reliability, and quality engineers, to gather information, share findings, and develop solutions.
A day in the life

As a Amazon Leo Test Development Engineer, you will own the design and implementation of automated test equipment used to validate satellite hardware designs from initial prototypes, through functional testing, and into pilot production. You will work with design and manufacturing teams to specify test equipment requirements, design test fixtures, develop test plans, and execute test campaigns to support development and production test initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and comfortable operating in a fast-paced development environment.

About the team

This team is organized within the satellite mechanical design team to accelerate the design iteration process and ensure on-time delivery of the most stable and successful product possible. The tasks and daily focus change rapidly, and you will often take on new and exciting responsibilities as required to ensure project success. Expect to be deployed to complex problems and novel technical challenges that push you to develop new skills. You’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product’s performance, quality and cost.
