Job summary

Amazon Leo in Redmond is seeking a hands-on Test Development Engineer to drive hardware/software test development for manufacturing. The role requires collaboration across multiple disciplines to create robust test solutions for cutting-edge optical intersatellite hardware.

You will own test system design, validation, data analysis with MATLAB/Python, and documentation through gate reviews, while addressing yield issues and coordinating with design teams to improve testability and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience developing hardware test systems including test software and supporting hardware.
• Experience with hardware/software integration testing and debugging.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python, C++, Java, etc.).

We're looking for a hands-on Test Development Engineer with a background in hardware/software test development for manufacturing.

Key job responsibilities

This is a role for a highly collaborative individual who will help us develop component- and LRU-level tests for hardware being built in Leo's Optical Intersatellite Link manufacturing lines, with requirements and stakeholders that span multiple disciplines.

• Lead the test system design and validation
• Lead software/hardware integration testing
• Lead review and analysis on data using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar
• Support and organize the release of the software and hardware system documents through gate reviews
• Investigate and troubleshoot yield issues during prototype and production builds
• Write status and/or build reports for cross-functional review
• Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns
• Identify and analyze the cross-functional tradeoffs between different test designs, including impact on performance, schedule, and cost at scale
• Drive cross-functional schedules, test requirements, specifications and limits with the hardware development team
• Work concurrently with the design engineers to collect design for testability (DFT) feedback throughout the design process
• Develop procedures and troubleshooting guides to support production
• Interested and able to travel domestically and internationally

A day in the life

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved before.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years of experience developing hardware test systems, including test software and supporting hardware
• Experience with hardware/software integration testing and debugging

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with hardware and software teams for setting up, testing, and troubleshooting prototype devices
• Experience programmatically testing products, measuring test coverage, developing the best automation, driving testability and diagnostic
• Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipeline implementation
• Experience with testing optical hardware
• Experience with new product introduction, including test line bring-up and transfer to volume production

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
