Job Overview

Someone in the role of Test Developer I has demonstrated effective item writing and reviewing skills and may have multiple years of teaching experience. They will balance their time creating and editing high-quality items and passages, participating in all internal review processes, and taking on project responsibilities appropriate to this level. Staff at this level may serve as a grade lead on a state-specific project and will begin to interact with clients under supervision.

Job Responsibilities

• Uses state item specifications to write effective items for different projects.
• Understands grade-level blueprints and how they translate into an item pool development plan.
• Works under the direction of a project's content lead to monitor the overall item pool development for a state.
• Attends, and may lead, item review meetings, rubric validation meetings, range finding meetings, and data review meetings to support the grade level lead.
• May lead development for a grade level/grade band with supervision.
• Participates in group reviews and edits items appropriately.
• Conducts preliminary and content reviews independently.
• May begin to have more direct communication with clients under supervision.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with 3-6 years’ experience, or Master’s degree with 1-4 years’ experience.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience teaching English and/or developing content in an Educational Assessment environment.
• Proven knowledge of U.S. Education and Education Assessment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
