Job summary

Pearson VUE is hiring a regular full-time Test Center Manager to join our team in West Des Moines, IA (3737 Woodland Ave). You will supervise Test Administrators, provide coaching, and ensure smooth daily operations with a strong focus on security and customer service.

Starting pay is $19.00 per hour. Benefits eligible on hire date. Shifts include Monday through Saturday, 7:15 AM to 8:00 PM, 35–40 hours per week, with occasional overtime. You may assist local sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
• 1+ year customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication and training skills in a testing environment helpful.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer use.

You will utilize your communication and customer skills with externalcustomers while also working to select new Test Administrators, provide job coaching, and fair performance appraisals to current employees.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Our ideal candidate demonstrates teamwork and has the availability to work a variety of shifts any day from Monday through Saturday, between the hours of 7:15 AM and 8:00 PM , with about 2 Saturdays per month. Sunday shifts are possible, but very rare.

Candidate must be open to flexible scheduling.

This is strictly a full-time position and will remain as such, 35 to 40 hours per week , with an expectation to work more hours if needed.

You must be available to assist local sites as needed and to address operational problems when not at the test center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

60% of daily tasks are Test Administrator responsibilities:

• Performs on-time site opening and closing procedures.
• Understands all testing procedures.
• Checks in examinees, verifies identification and explains the exam process.
• Monitors examinees while testing.
• Maintains a secure testing environment.
• Communicates with internal technical support to investigate and fix technical issues.
• Strictly adheres to company policies using careful judgment.
• Responsible for maintaining a professional and clean testing center with light housekeeping duties.
• Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.

40% of daily tasks are Test Center Manager responsibilities:

• The Test Center Manager is the onsite manager of a small team of Test Administrator employees.
• Site staffing/hiring/retention/conflict resolution/scheduling.
• Trains, develops, and coaches staff.
• First contact for facility issues.
• Ability to multi-task.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 1-year customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• High school diploma required ; Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
• Strong communication, team leading, and training skills, with exposure to a testing environment preferred.
• Must be flexible with work hours and days.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows applications, Internet, and email.
• Ability to operate a computer, fax, and telephone.
• Must maintain focus in quiet environments and hear soft-spoken words.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
• Able to stand for long periods and escort candidates frequently per shift.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift from a stooped position.
• Must see small details at a distance and clearly read names on ID cards and screens.
