Job summary

Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Test Calibration Engineer to own calibration, certification and qualification of engines and components across commercial, defense, marine and energy applications. This on-site role supports 9/80 schedules and requires knowledge of calibration standards.

Ideal candidates have an engineering/aviation background with 1–2+ years of experience and are comfortable coordinating with suppliers and internal teams while ensuring compliance with health, safety

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in engineering/aviation with 2+ years’ experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/aviation with 1+ years’ experience.
  • Master’s degree in engineering/aviation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate measurement and test equipment for development and conformance testing of aircraft engines and subsystems.
  • Coordinate external supplier and internal Rolls-Royce Metrology calibration activity.
  • Maintain data integrity of databases for calibration/test stand data acquisition.

As a Test Calibration Engineer for Rolls-Royce, you will be responsible for all aspects of test calibration, certification, and qualification for our engines and components for commercial and defense aerospace, marine, and energy applications. This is an exciting opportunity, as you’ll be fully accountable to ensure all calibration requirements for our test equipment are up to date and the requirements are met for the designated test stand.What you will be doingCalibration of measurement and test equipment used for development and product conformance testing of aircraft engines and subsystems.Selection, maintenance and calibration of standards used for calibration activity which may include fabrication of tooling, harnesses or other work aids to assist with calibration of test equipment.Coordinate external supplier and internal Rolls-Royce Metrology calibration activityMaintain data integrity of multiple databases for control of calibration and test stand data acquisition, including inventory management of sensors to support testing.Contribute to the organizational Improvement Journey to Process Excellence, including review of existing and development of new processes and support of internal and external Quality AuditsResponsible for knowledge of, awareness of, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.undefinedBasic Requirements:Associate’s degree in an Engineering, Technical, or Aviation discipline and 2+ years’ experience; OR,Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Technical, or Aviation discipline with 1+ years’ experience; OR,Master’s degree in an Engineering, Technical, or Aviation disciplineIn order to be considered for this role, you must be a US citizenPreferred Requirements:Experience with instrumentation, calibration and use of test equipment for fluid flow, pressure, temperature, force, electrical, vibration, etc.Familiarity with data integrity and metrological traceabilityAbility to utilize computers and common software packages and willingness to learn new software applicationsGood communication skills, both written and verbal; good interpersonal skills; proven team leadership capability; and the ability to make sound business decisionsAbility to work well both independently and in a team environment as well as plan and finish assigned tasks on scheduleUnderstanding of basic mathematics, measurement systems and scales (temperature – degrees; pressure – psig, psia; rotational speed – rpm; vibration – ips rms; horsepower – shp; stress – strain gauges; air flow – lb/sec; fluid flow – lb/hr, gal/hr; etc.), mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and low voltage electrical systems; ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specificationsOur vision is to ensure that the quality and dynamism that shaped our history continues into our future.
