Job summary

Matlen Silver is seeking a Test Automation Lead Practitioner Consultant in Plano, TX for a 12-month engagement with possible extension to 18 months. You will drive enterprise-wide QA modernization, lead automation strategy, and coach engineering teams to adopt modern test practices.

You will design and scale scalable automation frameworks, improve quality metrics, and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery and reduce defects.

Job Description:

Matlen Silver has partnered with a leading global financial services firm to recruit a highly experienced Test Automation Lead with extensive experience in quality engineering to drive enterprise-wide adoption of modern test automation practices and engineering excellence.

We are looking for a seasoned quality engineering leader with deep hands-on experience designing, implementing, and scaling test automation frameworks across complex technology organizations. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor, mentor, and coach to engineering teams, quality engineers, architects, and technology leaders. You will help teams accelerate delivery through effective automation strategies, shift-left testing practices, and quality engineering frameworks that improve software reliability, reduce manual testing effort, and increase release confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Automation Leadership & Quality Engineering:

• Drive Test Automation Adoption: Lead the enterprise adoption and maturation of automated testing strategies across functional, integration, API, UI, performance, and regression testing.
• Automation Framework Excellence: Coach teams in the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, maintainable, and reusable test automation frameworks.
• Shift-Left Quality Practices: Promote Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), continuous testing, and quality engineering practices that embed testing early in the software lifecycle.
• CI/CD Test Integration: Guide teams in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid feedback, increased deployment confidence, and reduced production defects.
• Quality Metrics & Coverage: Establish automation standards, quality KPIs, test coverage metrics, and reporting frameworks to drive continuous improvement.
• Test Management Modernization: Advise teams on modern test management solutions, test data strategies, automation governance, and quality engineering best practices.

Coaching & Enterprise Enablement

• Multi-Level Technical Coaching: Coach individual engineers, automation teams, QA leaders, and senior technology executives on quality engineering strategies and automation adoption.
• Training at Scale: Design and deliver enterprise-wide training programs, workshops, automation playbooks, and best-practice guidance.
• Automation Community Leadership: Foster communities of practice focused on test automation, continuous testing, and quality engineering innovation.
• Change Management: Drive adoption of automation tools, frameworks, and methodologies by building organizational alignment and demonstrating measurable business value.

Desired Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Test Automation, Quality Engineering, or Engineering Leadership roles.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale test automation frameworks.
• 7+ years of experience with automation tools and frameworks such as: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, REST Assured, Postman/Newman, NUnit/xUnit/JUnit/TestNG, Cucumber, or SpecFlow
• Strong expertise in TDD, BDD, Shift-Left Testing, Continuous Testing, and Quality Engineering practices.
• Extensive experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD platforms including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, XL Release, and Ansible Tower.
• Experience with quality and code analysis tools such as SonarQube, coverage reporting, and test analytics solutions.
• Proven success leading enterprise test automation transformation initiatives and improving automation coverage, quality metrics, and release velocity.
• Demonstrated experience coaching engineering organizations, delivering technical training, and mentoring teams on automation best practices.
• Experience establishing automation governance, standards, reusable frameworks, and enterprise-wide quality engineering strategies.
