Acentra Health is looking for a Test Automation Engineer, Senior to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

The Senior Test Automation Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automation frameworks and strategies across complex systems and integrations. This position leads automation efforts for multiple projects, provides guidance to peers, and ensures that automation initiatives align with organizational quality objectives. This role also leads the transition of test automation assets from legacy frameworks to modern, AI-augmented automation platforms, ensuring continuity of coverage throughout the migration. The Senior Engineer will drive innovation and continuous improvement in test automation to ensure efficient and scalable testing practices that support Acentra Health's healthcare technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level test automation frameworks and scripts.
  • Define automation strategies, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency across QA teams. Collaborate with development, DevOps, and business teams to integrate automation into continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Conduct code reviews of automation scripts and provide mentorship to junior and mid-level automation engineers.
  • Develop reusable components, utilities, and libraries to improve efficiency and maintainability of test automation assets.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex automation failures, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical input into test planning, estimation, and overall QA strategy.
  • Evaluate and recommend automation tools and technologies that align with enterprise architecture.
  • Track and report automation progress and performance metrics to QA leadership.
  • Ensure alignment of automation testing activities with compliance and security requirements relevant to healthcare data systems.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance automation coverage for API, UI, batch, and backend testing layers.
  • Champion test automation adoption and continuous improvement initiatives across QA and development teams.
  • Lead migration of existing test automation suites from Selenium-based--***-*- frameworks to Playwright, maintaining test coverage and reliability throughout the transition.
  • Extend inherited automation scaffolding - fixtures, dependency injection, page objects, and common methods - to build new test cases for incoming change requests and feature work.
  • Use AI-assisted authoring tools (e.g., Playwright Codegen, agentic test generation platforms) to accelerate test creation, reviewing and validating all AI-generated test artifacts before approval into the automation suite.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

The list of responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other education- and experience-related duties that management may deem necessary from time to time.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software testing, including at least 5 years in automation-focused roles.
  • Hands-on expertise with Selenium-based test automation frameworks (Java), including framework design, script development, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Playwright with TypeScript, with the ability to ramp quickly to full production proficiency.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Java, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Proficient with Git and version control workflows, including hands-on experience with Bitbucket.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, with hands-on experience integrating automated tests into pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Deep understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.
  • Proficient in database validation and complex SQL scripting.
  • Experience leading automation initiatives for large, multi-tiered enterprise or healthcare systems.
Preferred Qualification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience testing Medicaid, Medicare, or healthcare transaction processing systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with performance, API, and service virtualization tools.
  • Knowledge of AI concepts and their application in software testing, including effective use of GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted tools within Visual Studio.
  • Experience working within an AI-assisted or agentic test automation workflow, including reviewing and validating AI-generated test cases or code under human approval gates.
  • Exposure to behavior-driven testing approaches (e.g., Gherkin/Cucumber).
  • Strong knowledge of data-driven testing and test data management strategies.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and influence best practices in test automation.
