Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in Pleasanton, CA, is seeking a technically versatile engineer to join Vector Atomic's quantum device team. The role focuses on building next-generation instruments and enabling reliable automation across hardware and software tests.

You will collaborate with physicists, electronics and firmware engineers, set up CI/CD for DUTs, and author Python scripts and Docker images to streamline development, testing, and deployment in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science degree required
• DevOps-related coursework or internship experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Support code development efforts and automated in-loop hardware testing.
• Work with a cross-functional team of physicists, electronics engineers, and firmware engineers to create next-generation quantum instruments.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines and test server racks for devices-under-test (DUTs).
• Create and maintain automation scripts in Python for interfacing with DUTs and test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
• Create and configure Docker images for development, testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and assist with board testing and hardware bring up.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of our development process efficiency.

Vector Atomic is building quantum devices for applications including GPS-free navigation and timing, geophysical exploration, and telecommunications. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.

If this role has a commission structure, the compensation range below just reflects the base compensation range.

Wage Transparency:

$1—$1 USD

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
