The Role
As the QA Architect, you will design and implement the overarching quality strategy for our Java‑based ecosystem. You will move beyond traditional manual testing to build an automated, scalable framework that validates complex event‑driven data flows and ensures the integrity of our DDD service boundaries. You will define the “how” of testing—from contract tests for microservices to performance benchmarks for our relational databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Framework Design: Architect a comprehensive automation strategy using Java‑based tools (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, or Playwright) tailored for microservices.
- Event‑Driven Testing: Design methods to validate asynchronous events and message ordering in systems using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Contract & Integration Testing: Implement Consumer‑Driven Contract testing to ensure seamless communication between Java services without breaking service boundaries.
- Performance & Scalability: Lead performance, load, and stress testing for our relational database and Java APIs to ensure the platform handles peak health‑action loads.
- Security & Compliance: Integrate automated security scanning into the CI/CD pipeline to maintain HIPAA compliance and protect sensitive health data.
Technical Requirements
- Java Proficiency: Extensive experience writing automated tests and frameworks in Java.
- Microservices Testing: Proven ability to test DDD‑based systems, including mocking dependencies and verifying state across distributed transactions.
- Asynchronous Testing Master: Experience testing event‑driven architectures, specifically dealing with eventual consistency and message idempotency.
- Data Validation: Strong SQL skills to verify complex data transformations and integrity within a relational database.
- Pipeline Integration: Expertise in embedding quality gates into Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
Core Competencies
- Architectural Mindset: Ability to identify “weak links” in a complex distributed system before they reach production.
- Collaborative Leader: Works closely with Lead Developers and Data Architects to bake quality into the initial design phase (Shift‑Left).
- Quality Evangelist: Passionate about mentoring engineers on writing high‑quality unit and integration tests.
