Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking a QA Engineer in Newark, NJ on a hybrid basis for a 12-month engagement. The role emphasizes automated testing across UI and API layers, with strong automation tooling and CI/CD integration.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years overall experience in executing and controlling testing activities.

• Web and mobile testing expertise; testing of RESTful microservices on the cloud.
• Understanding of cloud databases (DynamoDB, Aurora) with caching and SQL for RDBMS.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and execute automated test scripts using Selenium & Cucumber for API automation.
• Maintain and enhance existing automated test scripts and frameworks for efficiency and coverage.
• Perform UI and back-end automation testing across multiple tech domains.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support delivery.
• Stay current with industry trends and apply best practices to testing processes.
• Develop Quality Management plans and test strategies for each sprint/release.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to align requirements with test cases for manual and automated testing.
• Update QA tools with traceability, test cases, defects, and status reporting.
• Hands-on test creation and execution of user stories (Smoke, Functional, Regression) and defect logging.
• Engage Development Team in defect resolution and lead defect review calls.
• Support Non-functional QA phases (Performance, Security, Accessibility).
• Provide QA strategy guidance and risk management across scrum teams and partner BUs.

Job Title: QA Engineer

Location: Hybrid (Newark, NJ)

Duration: 12 months

Quality Engineering

The individual will design, create, test, and deploy test-driven solutions across multiple technology domains. Candidate must demonstrate strong logical and creative problem-solving abilities, good oral and written communication, and excellent analytical skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Designing, writing, and executing automated test scripts using Selenium & Cucumber for API Automation.
• Maintaining and enhancing existing automated test scripts and frameworks to improve test efficiency and coverage.
• Well versed with UI & back-end automation testing.
• Contributing to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes by integrating automated tests into build pipelines.
• Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices in test automation and applying them to improve test development & execution processes.
• Developing Quality Management plans and test strategy for each sprint/release, reviewing test plans and conducting peer reviews of plans & test cases.
• Working with Product owners to ensure business requirements are adequate & ensuring test cases are developed according to standards for both manual and automated.
• Updating Quality Tools with requirement traceability, test cases, test sets and defects according to QA standards & reporting status on the QA review report.
• Hands‑on test creation and execution of user stories (Smoke, Functional Integration, Regression testing) and logging defects.
• Engaging Development Team in defect resolution & leading defect review calls.
• Assisting Testing with other groups for Non‑functional QA phases (Performance, Security, Accessibility).
• Providing guidance around QA strategies, proactive governance, and risk management for overall quality delivery of platform applications. Working collaboratively across scrum teams and testing team for partner BUs to ensure success by applying best practice principles and techniques.

Education and Experience

• B S. / B.A. or M.A. / M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3-5 years overall experience for the execution and control of all aspects of testing.
• Experience with Claude, Java and Playwright.
• Expertise in web‑based and mobile testing, knowledge of J2EE applications testing.
• Experience with testing RESTful micro‑services architecture on the cloud.
• Understanding of cloud database, NoSQL concepts (DynamoDB, Aurora) including caching (ElastiCache) and SQL for RDBMS.

Technical Qualifications

• Good working knowledge of test automation processes, concepts, and tools such as Selenium, TestNG, Jmeter, FitNesse, Postman, SoapUI, Protractor, Cucumber and Typescripting.
• Experience with multiple development methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid) & different tools (JIRA, Confluence, MIRO).
• Experience with ETL (e.g. DataStage, Informatica) data sourcing, transformation and validation.
• Experience with Rest API automation.
• Experience with Unix and scripting.
• Experience with developing and executing fast test scripts that are easily reusable and maintainable.
• Experience with Jenkins and integrating into CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge with AWS technologies (e.g., Lambda, DynamoDB, Mongo, Glue, Athena, Parquet file format).
