Job summary

DAN & JERRY'S GREENHOUSES is seeking a Territory Manager to lead Garden Center Merchandisers and Regional teams across multiple store locations in the Monticello, MN area and beyond.

The role combines people leadership, merchandising, operations and planning, with up to 95% travel during the busy spring season. This seasonal position runs December through June and requires strong communication and coaching to drive sales and maintain plant health.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, coach and manage a team of Garden Center Merchandisers and Regional Garden Center Merchandisers.
• Hands-on leader; merchandises and maintains products in stores.
• Build trustworthy relationships with store managers and leadership through communication.
• Provide hands-on training on merchandising, safety, store operations, waste, handling, displays, and customer service.
• Travel regularly to garden centers in the territory; monitor inventory and plant quality.
• Hold regular meetings with store managers to review questions and sales.
• Ensure signage and proper POS placement in stores.
• Set up and reset garden center merchandise and displays, even in bad weather.
• Oversee sales data and plan resource allocation; review credit card expenses.
• Monitor performance and find ways to reduce waste and boost sales.
• Review sales data to prioritize visits and allocate resources.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Territory Manager is directly responsible for leading and supporting a team of Garden Center Merchandisers and Regional Garden Center Merchandisers across many store locations. This hands‑on role combines people management, merchandising, operations, customer services, and strategic planning. This is a seasonal position working December-June.

The Territory Manager will act as a key liaison between store teams and Dan & Jerry’s leadership. The Territory Manager will be responsible for the recruitment, interview process, hiring, training, and terminating in their assigned territory. This role will travel extensively (up to 95% in the busy spring season) within an assigned territory to visit and support stores and staff, driving sales and merchandising efforts, ensuring plant health and quality, supporting their employees and maintaining strong relationships with the store leaders. This territory includes the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Arkansas, and New Mexico.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (comprehensive, but not limited to):

Employee Management and Leadership:

• Hire, train, coach and manage a team of Garden Center Merchandisers and Regional Garden Center Merchandisers. Be able to make tough decisions and terminate employees when necessary.
• Be a hands‑on leader, working alongside your team to merchandise, and maintain all products in the garden centers.
• Building trustworthy relationships with store managers and Dan & Jerry’s leadership team through frequent communication, accountability, and teamwork.
• Provide in-person, hands‑on training to staff on merchandising, safety, store operations, product waste processes, product handling, display setup and customer service.

Store Support:

• Continuous travel to the garden centers in assigned territory, being a regular presence and providing value to each store by ensuring proper store inventory and monitoring plant quality and health.
• Hold regular meetings with store managers to answer questions and review sales.
• Ensure stores have proper signage and proper Point of Purchase (P.O.P.) placement.
• Set up and reset garden center merchandise and displays, sometimes in challenging weather conditions.
• Assist with unloading products off rolling carts and setting up displays.

Planning and Administration:

• Review sales data and store insights to prioritize visits and allocate resources.
• Oversee your team’s credit card expenses, use of company property, and timecards, ensuring all are approved by deadlines.
• Monitor store performance and sales reports to proactively find ways to reduce waste and drive sales.
