Job summary

Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. is seeking a territorial leader in the greater Atlanta area to drive growth with independent agencies and brokers. You will partner with Underwriting to meet profit and growth targets, recruit new agencies, and manage a book of business across various commercial lines.

You will develop plans with producers, monitor performance metrics, and coordinate pricing decisions. Travel within the territory is expected, with emphasis on leadership and cross‑selling

Qualifications

  • Strong technical understanding of commercial insurance and underwriting.
  • Licensed to sell insurance or able to obtain licenses and continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with independent agencies and brokerages in the assigned territory.
  • Create and execute a business plan with broker/producer plans and target prospects.
  • Coordinate underwriting decisions with Underwriting and manage profitability targets for the book of business.
  • Prequalify submissions, oversee new business quotes, and assist agencies in soliciting profitable business.
  • Strategize renewals with producers and engage with key accounts.
  • Communicate Church Mutual capabilities to agents and brokers and facilitate cross‑selling opportunities.

Job description

The ideal candidate would be located in the greater Atlanta area.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Work with independent agents and brokers (producers) and Underwriting to obtain corporate objectives for growth. Serve as the territory leader with accountability for attaining profit, growth, and producer recruitment and management goals for a book of business. Provide competitor and regulatory information to market teams and management to ensure continued profitability, competitiveness, and product innovation. Serve as a portal to Church Mutual products, markets, and services.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with independent agencies and brokerages in assigned territory. Develop a business plan that incorporates specific broker/producer plans and identifies target prospects. Monitor business plan, including performing operational reviews. Build a prospect inventory. Identify and recruit new independent agencies and brokerages.
  • Responsible for the profitability of a book of business in assigned geographical territory. Work closely with Underwriting and coordinate underwriting decisions. Measure/monitor/communicate and adjust needs for the territory.
  • Manage selection and pricing of new and renewal accounts to develop a book of business that meets company expectations of profit and growth. Manage new business results to exceed established metrics' (e.g., quote/hit ratio) earnings rate.
  • Responsible for prequalifications of submissions. Oversee new business quote deliveries. Work with agencies and brokerages to help them in the solicitation of good profitable business.
  • Strategize with producers on all renewals. Have direct engagement on key accounts.

On Any Given Day, You'll

Here's What We Expect
  • Evidence of strong technical understanding of commercial insurance as well as a thorough understanding of marketing and underwriting, financial analysis capabilities, and customer service skills. This typically is acquired through a minimum of six to eight years of experience in the industry with emphasis on marketing and/or underwriting.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or years of experience is required.
  • Possession of applicable sales licenses and/or the ability to obtain and maintain applicable licenses and continuing education is required.
  • Professional designation(s) preferred (i.e., CPCU, CIC, CRM, AIC, ARM).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels as required.
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship building, decision making, negotiation, and communication, including effective listening, organizational skills, problem solving, and business acumen.
  • Confident and highly motivated individual willing to travel within assigned territory.
  • Demonstrated initiative in responding to competitive situations and commitment to achievement of business goals and objectives.
  • Experience in sales and/or marketing with a basic technical knowledge in product knowledge, exposure and financial analysis, pricing and selection, corporate systems, and PC knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of all functional disciplines.
  • Knowledge of rate making and rating plans.
  • Knowledge of facultative and treaty reinsurance.
  • Significant travel required.
