Job summary

Rp Lumber is hiring an Outside Sales Representative to grow contractor and builder business in Champaign, IL. This field-based role requires finding new accounts, serving existing customers, quoting jobs accurately, and following through to close deals.

You will sell lumber and building materials to contractors, developers, property managers, realtors, and homeowners, coordinating with the General Manager, Inside Sales, and store teams to ensure orders, deliveries, and pricing stay on track.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent training, or 1–2 years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to use BisTrack, Microsoft Word and Excel, estimating software, and related business systems at an intermediate level.
• Strong communication, presentation, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and travel.
• Ability to keep customer and company information confidential.

Responsibilities

• Business development and account coverage.
• Travel the assigned territory to call on customers; follow up by phone, email, and text.
• Handle assigned contractor and customer accounts.
• Match customer project needs with company products and services.
• Attend trade shows when directed.
• Prepare sales and activity reports and keep expense records.
