Job summary

AMERISAFE, based in eastern South Carolina, is seeking a detail-oriented Field Safety Professional to conduct on-site Loss Control Surveys of prospective and current policyholders. You will organize and manage a geographic territory, assess insurability, and recommend hazard controls, working both from home and in the field.

Salary is based on experience and education; FSPs participate in the Fixed and Variable Rate auto reimbursement program and may earn bonuses upon eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or verifiable safety work experience required.
• Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
• Adequate computer knowledge and typing skills.
• Must live in or relocate to the territory with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage a geographic territory, optimizing travel and expenses.
• Assess insurability of prospects or policyholders and report their work environment.
• Evaluate current safety programs and determine suitability for risk.
• Observe worksites to ensure hazard controls are in place and communicate deficiencies.
• Provide safety information and training to help ensure compliance.
• Conduct safety training and meetings for employees as needed.
• Schedule work according to priority and due dates.
• Meet or exceed goals for quality, production and timely reports.
• Travel as required; up to 25% overnight; some weeks away from home.
• Complete and return safety surveys electronically.
