Position Purpose:

The Territory Associate Relations Manager [TARM] is responsible for executing the strategy for promoting fair and consistent employment practices. The TARM ensures a positive associate relations environment to enhance overall performance in driving customer service and sales. The TARM reports to the Division Director of Associate Relations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction to RVP, RHRD, and other regional leaders on labor and employment trends and associate relations needs to ensure creation and maintenance of a positive associate relations environment
  • Provides guidance to regional leaders on the interpretation and consistent application of Company policies, programs and initiatives
  • Analyzes regional/district/store data to identify AR activity/trends; develops, executes and follows up on AR action plans to ensure fair and consistent application of Company policies and practices
  • Monitors all labor relations activity in the region with guidance and direction from the Store Support Center (SSC) - Associate Relations team
  • Provides direction to regional leadership on procedures for handling potential unionizing efforts and NLRB actions and developing preventative strategies and education on union avoidance
  • Assists in developing, executing, and following up on game plans associated with EOC survey, town halls, and labor activity
  • Provides region support to SSC in response to and/or resolution of EEOC, DOL, OFCCP and other labor and employment claims; as well as managing and reporting workplace violence matters
  • Act as resource to assist Medical Health Management, Legal, and Asset Protection on investigations and associate relations issues
  • Conducts training for management on legal and AR/labor relations matters, develops customized training where appropriate in partnership with Learning Development
  • Works with Government Compliance to promote diversity using diversity reporting tools, and addressing AAP (OFCCP audits), I-9 compliance, compensation reviews, and other regional compliance issues
  • Provides assistance to DHRMs with reviewing Performance Improvement Plans for Store Managers to ensure fairness and consistency


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • Reports to Division Director of Associate Relations


Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).


Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Conditions could produce mild discomfort on occasion.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in law, employee relations, or human resources
  • Multi-site (50-plus locations) and experience with 10,000 associates
  • 8 years experience in employment law, employee relations or human resources is preferred
  • PHR or SPHR or equivalent certification
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule


Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
