Square is seeking a Territory Account Executive to join our newly established field sales organization. Our goal is to provide a local experience to our Sellers (customers/merchants) everywhere. You will engage with our Sellers authentically, demonstrate Square’s mission of economic empowerment, and establish a local presence.

This individual contributor sales role will focus on restaurants, retailers, and service-based businesses in our key markets. THIS IS A HUNTER AND FIELD-BASED SALES ROLE. You will develop strategies to increase market share, generate leads through community engagement, and build Square’s brand locally. The role demands excellent communication, persistence, and rapport-building skills to negotiate and close complex deals both remotely and face-to-face.

You will:

  1. Sell in person within your market, conducting 50-60 drop-ins weekly to prospective sellers, performing discovery, demos, and closing sales within the Square ecosystem.
  2. Maintain relationships with active Square Sellers, monitor account health, collaborate with account management and support teams, and generate referrals.
  3. Partner with onboarding teams to ensure successful Seller implementation.
  4. Create a sustainable sales pipeline using various tactics, including community walking, referrals, partnerships, and local events.
  5. Develop hands-on skills in demoing and onboarding Square hardware and software solutions.
  6. Work with channel sales to identify and build referral partnerships in your market.
  7. Deepen understanding of the needs within primary vertical markets: restaurants, retail, and services.
  8. Meet and exceed monthly sales targets and KPIs, utilizing Salesforce for tracking and reporting.

You have:

  1. At least 3 years of full-cycle sales experience, preferably in field sales.
  2. Over 2 years of experience in payment processing or related technologies.
  3. More than 1 year of experience working with or selling to restaurants, retail, or service-based businesses.
  4. A proven record of exceeding sales targets and closing complex deals.
  5. Ability to independently drive deals in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Business development skills, including hunting and cold calling.
  7. Reliable transportation and residence within your market area.
  8. BA/BS degree or relevant experience.
  9. Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
  10. Prior Salesforce experience or similar CRM familiarity.
  11. Knowledge of restaurant, retail, or service operations is preferred.

Compensation varies by location, based on a market-based pay approach. U.S. locations are categorized into zones with specific salary ranges, which may be updated. For details, consult the provided resource or speak with a recruiter.

Zone A: ($148,700 - $223,100)

Zone B: ($138,300 - $207,500)

Zone C: ($130,900 - $196,300)

Zone D: ($123,400 - $185,200)

These ranges include target variable compensation.
