Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in LTL trucking operations and terminal management.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in using relevant technology and software for terminal operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise terminal staff, including drivers, dock workers, and administrative personnel.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient terminal operations, including loading, unloading, and freight handling.
  • Implement operational strategies to meet service goals and performance metrics.
  • Establish and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and audits to promote a culture of safety within the terminal.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor terminal employees. Provide ongoing performance feedback and address performance issues as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a strong team by fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and effectively to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Analyze financial reports and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Collaborate with dispatchers to plan and optimize delivery routes, considering time, fuel efficiency, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor route performance and make adjustments to improve efficiency.
  • Implement and oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate tracking and handling of freight.
  • Minimize losses and damages through effective inventory management practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in industry regulations and ensure terminal compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance terminal efficiency.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to implement new technologies and tools to improve operational processes.
  • Maintain open communication channels with corporate offices, other terminals, and external partners.
  • Provide regular updates to upper management on terminal performance, challenges, and opportunities.
