South Shore Transp Company is seeking a Terminal Manager in Mocksville, NC to lead terminal operations, ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance, and drive service excellence. The role oversees personnel, equipment, and facilities to meet company goals and customer expectations.

You will coach Supervisors, Dispatchers, Drivers, and staff; manage budgets and procurement; enforce policies; build relationships with customers and vendors; and coordinate safety programs with the Safety

Qualifications

• 5+ years in transportation or logistics management.
• 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA regulations.

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team including Supervisors, Dispatchers, Drivers, Dock staff.
• Oversee daily terminal operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and safety.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and operating standards.
• Manage budgets, cost control, and procurement to achieve targets.
• Build relationships with customers, shippers, carriers, and vendors.
• Coordinate DVIRs and timely equipment repairs.
• Partner with Safety to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe workplace.
• Identify training needs and support employee development.
• Continuously improve processes to enhance service quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

External Description

The Terminal Manager is responsible for leading terminal operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance while driving service excellence and compliance. This role oversees personnel, equipment, and facility management to meet company goals and customer expectations

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, including Supervisors, Dispatchers, Drivers, Dock Associates, and Administrative staff.


• Oversee daily terminal operations (dispatch, driver management, and maintenance where applicable) to ensure efficiency, compliance, and safety.


• Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and operating standards.


• Manage budgets, cost control, and procurement to achieve financial and operational targets.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, shippers, carriers, and vendors.


• Monitor DVIRs and coordinate timely, compliant equipment repairs.


• Partner with Safety to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe workplace.


• Oversee facility upkeep and recommend improvements as needed.


• Identify training needs and support employee development.


• Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance service quality and cost-effectiveness.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of transportation or logistics management experience


• 2+ years proven supervisory responsibility


• Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other transportation safety regulations.

Preferred Assets

• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), dispatch software, and warehouse management systems (WMS)

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday
