Job summary

World Group’s ContainerPort Group in Houston seeks a dedicated Terminal Manager to oversee the terminal operations and connect our fleet with key customers. You will lead the Fleet, Customer Service and Operations teams, ensuring safety, performance, and strong service levels.

You will develop new business, expand existing accounts, and coach teams to excel in a fast-paced environment. A solid intermodal background and owner-operator management are required.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years intermodal transportation management experience.
  • 3 years managing an owner-operator based fleet.
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills are a must.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the Fleet Manager, Customer Service and Operations team members located in the terminal.
  • Work with recruiting and driver experience teams on IC acquisition/retention strategies.
  • Develop new business and grow opportunities with current customers.
  • Coach and facilitate excellent communication and teamwork among departments.
  • Maintain safety culture and conduct safety inspections; support P&L oversight.

About This Role:

ContainerPort Group, a World Group company, is currently looking for a dedicated, driven person to join our family as a Terminal Manager for our growing terminal in Houston, TX!

The Terminal Manager is responsible for being the backbone of our trucking operations and being the connection between our fleet of owner-operators and our customers. This role will build lasting relationships with our drivers and customers that center around our core values. Does this sound like you or fit your experience?

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the Fleet Manager, Customer Service and Operations team members located in the terminal
  • Work closely with the recruiting and driver experience teams on IC acquisition and retention strategies
  • Develop new business
  • Grow and expand opportunities with the current customer base through relationship building with key account decision makers
  • Coach and facilitate excellent communication and teamwork amongst Customer Service, fleet and operations management.
  • Safety Accountabilities (Holding True to Our Safety Culture /#1 Priority)
  • Facility Maintenance Background including Safety Inspections
  • P&L Understanding and Analysis (GP / NOI/ NI)
  • Servant Leadership Understanding and Mentoring Skills
  • Electronic Log and HOS Experience
  • Impromptu Problem Solving Skills in a Fast Paced Environment

Education and Experience:

  • HS diploma required,Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred
  • Alignment with ContainerPort Group’s purpose, brand promise and core values.
  • 5 years intermodal transportation management experience
  • 3 years managing an owner-operator based fleet
  • Outstanding service performance, leadership, customer satisfaction and owner-operator recruiting skills are a must
  • High degree of integrity and initiative
  • Excellent management, communication, relationship building and networking skills
  • Strong and proven operations background
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
