Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Terminal Operator to operate and maintain on-site terminal facilities and stored product. You will perform gauging, sampling, testing and routine maintenance while overseeing product receiving, truck loading and terminal upkeep.

The role requires a high school diploma and allows for flexible schedules, including overtime, nights, weekends and holidays; being on call is expected. Strong safety and accuracy are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent education.
• 2 years of experience preferred.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including overtime, nights, weekends and holidays; on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

• Facility Operation: open/close valves, take samples, gauge tanks and temperatures, record readings and verify valve positions.
• Marine Dock Operations & Product Receipts: coordinate with delivery companies, assist with vessel docking, inspections and security declarations.
• Plant Maintenance: perform routine maintenance, calibrate gauges, grease valves, maintain grounds, and troubleshoot equipment.
• Equipment Testing & Inspection: test high-level alarms, inspect safety equipment, check seals, test fire systems.
• Truck Loading Supervision: train drivers, issue driver cards, inspect transports, and manage driver files.
• Routine Operations: monitor tank levels, offload trucks, receive additives, reconcile inventories, and complete computer-based training.

Job Summary

Responsible for operating and maintaining terminal and product stored on site using established procedures. Performs tank gauging, sample gathering, testing and routine maintenance. Oversees product receiving, truck loading and upkeep of terminal facility.

Minimum Qualifications

High School or equivalent education.

2 Years Experience Preferred.

Some computer knowledge helpful.

Must be able to work flexible work schedule including overtime, nights, weekends and holidays and must be able and willing to be on call for specified time periods.

Job Duties

• Facility Operation: Manage facility security and operations by opening/closing valves, taking samples, gauging tanks and temperatures, recording readings, verifying valve positions, conducting security checks, and completing inspections.
• Marine Dock Operations & Product Receipts: Coordinate with delivery companies and inspectors, assist with vessel docking, handle inspections and security declarations, manage hose connections, gauge vessels, align piping and valves, monitor transfers, and act as the Person in Charge (PIC).
• Plant Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance including repairing equipment, calibrating gauges, greasing valves, maintaining terminal grounds, handling landscaping and custodial duties, draining tanks, and troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Equipment Testing & Inspection: Test and log high-level alarms, inspect fire extinguishers and other safety equipment, check seals, and test firewater and foam systems.
• Truck Loading Supervision: Train drivers, issue driver cards, inspect transports, maintain driver files, and enter data into automation systems.
• Routine Operations: Monitor and manage tank levels, offload trucks, receive additives, perform meter readings and calibrations, reconcile inventories, handle product transfers and blending, interact with contractors, and complete computer-based training.
