Job summary

The University of Alaska Anchorage, Department of Languages, invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Term Assistant Professor of Languages with specialization in German, French, Japanese, Russian, or Spanish. Teach target language courses at all levels and culture/topic courses in English; preference for a second language in French, German, Japanese, Russian, or Spanish.

Qualifications

  • PhD by appointment in language, literature, culture studies or closely related field.
  • Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the college/university level.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English and one of French, German, Japanese, Russian, or Spanish.
  • Ability to teach core and specialized courses in the department’s curriculum.
  • Experience or readiness to participate in outreach and recruitment efforts in the school district and larger community.

Responsibilities

  • Teach target language courses at all levels and culture/topic courses in English.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and course design.
  • Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts in the community.
  • Support and mentor students to promote their success.
