Position Summary Information

The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses per regular semester that could include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Responsibilities include:

  1. Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
  2. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
  3. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
  4. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational backgrounds.
  5. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  6. Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes.
  7. Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines.
  8. Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
  9. Hold scheduled office hours and be available for student conferences.
  10. Assist in academic advising of declared majors.
  11. Participate in the self-evaluation process.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  1. Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the field of Diesel Applied Technology.
  2. Ability to plan course instruction based on the approved syllabus.
  3. Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods.
  4. Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies in instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology and three (3) years of work experience in the Diesel field.
  2. OR High School Diploma and 8 years of work experience in the Diesel field.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in teaching.
  2. ASE Certification.
  3. Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
  4. Successful college teaching experience.
  5. Knowledge of teaching strategies that enhance student success.
  6. Experience teaching college level online courses.
