Job summary

The Classics Department at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with any research specialization in Classical Studies. The teaching load is 2‑2 and will include large‑enrollment courses on Greek and Roman mythology and other Classical Civilization offerings at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Required is a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Classics or closely related field.
• A distinguished publication record and strong teaching ability in large lectures.
• Record of outstanding teaching especially in large-format lectures.

Responsibilities

• Teach Greek and Roman mythology and other Classical Civilization courses at undergrad and graduate levels.
• Maintain a 2-2 teaching load and contribute to general education programs.
• Engage in ongoing research and scholarly activities.
