Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is hiring for a joint position between the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and the Department of History & Art History. This role requires teaching a total of 12 credit hours per semester, equally divided between the two departments. The successful candidate will focus on courses in mythology and the literature and history of ancient Greece and Rome.

Ideal applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Classical Studies or a related discipline, have 2-3 years of undergraduate teaching experience, and be able to deliver engaging courses both in-person and online.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Classical Studies / Classics or Ancient History.
  • 2-3 years of undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach courses on classical mythology and literature in translation.
  • Ability to teach courses on the history of Ancient Greece and/or Rome.
  • Ability to develop new special topic courses on ancient subjects.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Classical Studies at undergraduate level.
  • Teach courses in History at undergraduate level.
  • Contribute to departmental service requirements.
