Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering, computational, or physical-science discipline before appointment.
• Ability to teach and develop courses in thermo-fluids for undergrad and grad students.
• Demonstrated research experience directly relevant to wildfire or fire science and engineering.
• Demonstrate awareness of diverse student populations and inclusive teaching.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering as aligned with expertise.
• Conduct research, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, and pursue external funding.
• Collaborate with SJSU WIRC to seek funding and wildfire research opportunities.
• Engage in shared governance and service within the department and university.
• Organize all classes in the Canvas LMS and support student learning.
• Demonstrate commitment to inclusive teaching and diversity in the classroom.
