Job summary

University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Watershed Science and Management starting 9 August 2027. The workload is 50% teaching, 40% research, 10% service; position is not remote and may include in-person and online teaching.

The successful candidate will teach 5 courses per year (fall and spring). Courses include EVS 195, EVS 489, EVS 410/518/519, and you will maintain an active applied field‑based research program with opportunities for

Qualifications

PhD in Watershed Science, Wetland Ecology, Wetland Management or a closely related field by 1 August 2027.
Experience teaching in a classroom setting and publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.
Active, applied, field‑based research program with undergraduate and non‑thesis graduate opportunities.

Responsibilities

Teach five courses per year (fall and spring semesters) including EVS 195, EVS 489 and related offerings.
Develop an active, applied research program informing watershed conservation and management.
Mentor undergraduate and non‑thesis graduate students; engage in service and outreach.
Collaborate across departments and engage community partners.
