Job summary

University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks an Assistant Professor of Social Work for a 9-month, tenure-track position beginning August 2027. Responsibilities include teaching in the BSW and MSW programs, advising BSW students, conducting research, and providing service to the profession, school, college, university, and community.

The typical load is three courses per semester for research-active faculty.

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work and PhD in Social Work or related field; ABD considered; doctorate required by start date.
• Three years of post-MS W practice experience.
• Ability to teach in at least two areas of the BSW and MSW Foundation curriculum.
• Demonstrated potential for excellent teaching and scholarly productivity.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the BSW and MSW programs; advise BSW students.
• Conduct research and scholarship; provide service to the school, college, university, and community.
• Engage in interprofessional teaching, research, and service.
• Contribute to efforts to promote diversity and inclusive excellence.
