Job summary

Suffolk County Community College's Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor in Veterinary Science Technology.

The successful candidate will teach in the Veterinary Science Technology program and report to the Academic Chair of Health Careers & Physical Education. The ideal candidate holds a Master's Degree or higher in Veterinary Medicine or a related field, has at least four years of college teaching or relevant professional experience,

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Veterinary Medicine or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience in a college setting or professional/technical experience related to the discipline.
• Familiarity with a learning management system and/or willingness to use the college’s LMS (i.e. Brightspace).

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college.
• Participating in curricular development, assessment, and revision at the course, discipline, and program levels.
• Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and using the results in courses.
• Ensuring equity and inclusion are integrated into curriculum and instructional practice.
• Maintaining alignment of student knowledge and workforce best practices.
• Incorporating engaging academic technology into instruction.
• Pursuing ongoing professional development in pedagogy and subject matter.
• Teaching assigned courses per college catalog and outlines.
• Providing academic advising and participating in recruitment and retention strategies.
• Scheduling time to meet with students outside of class.
• Active participation in department, campus, and college committees.
