Job summary
The Physics Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in theoretical high-energy, nuclear, gravitational, and/or quantum physics, beginning July 1, 2027 or soon thereafter. Candidates with research across energy scales are welcome, including QFT, cosmology, gravity, and related fields.
A Ph.D. in physics is required by the start of employment.
Qualifications
- PhD in physics or physics-related discipline required by start of employment.
- Strong research record in theoretical physics across high-energy, nuclear, gravitational, or quantum physics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent theoretical research in assigned areas.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and mentor students.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate research participation; engage in service to MIT.
