Job Summary

The Master of Social Work Department at Morgan State University invites applications for a tenure or tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor with a primary focus on behavioral health, specifically substance use disorders and opioid use disorder. Job Duties

Teaching

• Teach graduate-level MSW courses related to behavioral health, including but not limited to: Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring Disorders; Behavioral Health Assessment and Intervention; Trauma-Informed, Recovery-Oriented, and Harm Reduction Approaches; Integrated Behavioral Health Practice; Advanced Practice or Policy electives aligned with SUD and OUD.
• Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing program assessment.
• Advise and mentor MSW students in academic and professional development.

Research and Scholarship

• Maintain an active research agenda focused on behavioral health, SUD, OUD, or related areas.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
• Pursue external funding to support research and programmatic initiatives.
• Engage in interdisciplinary and community-based research collaborations aligned with the MSW Department’s mission.

Service

• Participate in MSW Department, School, and University service activities.
• Contribute to accreditation, assessment, and program development efforts.
• Support community partnerships and professional service related to behavioral health and substance use treatment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics

• Clinical social work licensure or license eligibility.
• Practice experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment settings.
• History of or strong potential for external grant funding.
