Job summary

Northwestern University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Statistics and Data Science, located in Evanston. Primary duties include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department, college, and university.

A Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
• Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2026, and will continue until the positions are filled.
• Appointments are expected to start in September 2027.
• Preferred research areas include machine learning, modern causal inference, and other emerging topics in data science/AI.
• Exceptional candidates in any area of statistics and data science will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in statistics and data science.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science.
• Advise and mentor students at multiple levels.
• Provide service to the department, college, and university.
