Job summary

The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position in Spanish Linguistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 7, 2027. Salary is negotiable.

The appointee will teach courses in Spanish at undergraduate and graduate levels, pursue an active research agenda, and participate in department and university governance. A doctoral degree and native or near-native Spanish are required.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Spanish Linguistics, Applied Linguistics (Spanish-language focus) or closely related field by Aug 7, 2027.
• Native or near-native command of Spanish with excellent English communication.
• Active research agenda and ongoing scholarly output.
• Experience teaching at the university level.

Responsibilities

• Conduct, present, and publish research and engage in professional activities.
• Teach courses primarily in Spanish for the Spanish program at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Collaborate with graduate programs in Applied Linguistics where appropriate.
• Participate in department, college, and university governance.
