Job summary

University of the Virgin Islands invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Soil/Plant Sciences. Qualifications

• Ph.D. in soil and plant science or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• 1–2 years teaching experience for Assistant Professor; 2–6 years for Associate Professor.
• Experience advisement and mentoring of students.
• Experience working with diverse students, especially minorities and first-generation college students.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to build partnerships for teaching, research, and extension.
• Potential to generate external funding.
• Engagement with professional organizations.
• Excellent oral and written communication with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
• Knowledge of tropical/Caribbean agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate, associate, and certificate courses.
• Deliver instruction in face-to-face, blended, and online formats.
• Advise and mentor agricultural science students.
• Engage in recruitment activities for Agriculture Programs.
• Serve on Agriculture Programs and University Committees.
• Write, submit, and manage secured grants.
• Engage in scholarship and publications.
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders of the institution and Agriculture Programs.
• Work on other assigned duties.
