Job summary

Salem State University’s School of Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track Social Work Professor. Primary teaching in the BSW program with potential MSW teaching, starting September 2027.

Responsibilities include teaching, advising, governance, and curriculum development focused on equity-minded teaching and transformative learning. The department serves ~500 students in MSW/BSW, promoting social justice, inclusion, and cultural humility.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD in social work, DSW, or doctorate in a related field (or ABD with significant progress can be considered)
• Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience
• Experience promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational environment

Responsibilities

• Teaching, advising, scholarship and service to improve the department and university
• Maintain a standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester
• Contribute to curriculum development and program coordination in a collaborative environment
