Job summary

San José State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in quantum information science beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach courses at the BS/BA and MS levels, mentor undergraduate and masters students, and develop an externally funded research program.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in physics or a related field.
• Demonstrated success in grant writing for external funding; mentorship and engagement of undergrad/masters students.
• Commitment to teaching across lower division, upper division, and graduate courses in physics and quantum information science.

Responsibilities

• Teach BS/BA and MS level courses, including upper division and graduate courses in quantum information science.
• Engage undergraduate and graduate students in physics research and develop an externally funded research program with mentorship.
• Participate in department, college, and university governance and service assignments.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas LMS.
• Demonstrate inclusive teaching strategies that support a diverse student population.
