Qualifications

• Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Physics or Astronomy by the time of appointment.
• ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2027; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2028 in advance of their first scheduled review.
• Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching, experience with Canvas, and a record of scholarly achievement.
• Postdoctoral and teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory astronomy and physics, upper-level physics courses, and laboratories as part of the physics program.
• Deliver 24 credits of instruction per academic year of introductory courses in astronomy and physics, upper-level undergraduate physics courses, and laboratories.
• Maintain at least five office hours for students each week during the academic year.
• Advise/mentor students and use Navigate for notes.
• Develop syllabi meeting university requirements and contribute to curriculum development.
• Engage in scholarly activity and involve undergraduate students in research initiatives.
• Participate in department, college, and university-level meetings and service activities.
