Job summary

The College of Nursing at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will develop an extramurally funded program in community/public health or environmental health and collaborate across campus with health-related colleges and external partners.

Responsibilities include vigorous research, teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring students, and serving on committees.

Qualifications

PhD or other research degree required at time of appointment.
Master's degree in Nursing or Public Health.
Strong CV showing research and teaching potential.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Eligible for RN or APRN licensure in Rhode Island.
Ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain a robust program of research germane to nursing and health that is supported by extramural funding.
Maintain a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
Contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the University by mentoring students and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as .
Serve on college and University committees.
